Art-Afrik Plus is a Toronto-based company that specializes in the promotion and sale of art from Africa and the African Diaspora.
Since 2001, Art-Afrik Plus has been serving art lovers all over the world by directly working with some of Africa’s most talented artists and communities in Africa to bring you their best creations.
We pick handcrafted pieces made from local and natural materials like ebony, mahogany, rosewood, African soft wood, soapstone and grass. These unique and timeless, mostly one-of-a-kind pieces are made with skills that have been mastered over many generations. Yet they easily complement works of art from other parts of the world.
We also promote African works that have been influenced by contemporary western art. For example, David Kibuuka’s paintings, with their vibrant colors, give us an insight into African culture. Kibuuka is known for "fragmentation", a technique that adds depth and breadth to the traditional batik art work, making it comparable to oil, acrylic and watercolor painting.
Art-Afrik Plus also works with African communities to bring you some of their unique organic agricultural products. For example, we are working with communities in the war-torn region of Northern Uganda to bring you certified organic Nilotic Shea butter, an excellent skin moisturizer. Shea butter can also be used to oil wooden sculptures.
